Eternal Death - Cry

Article by KevW

Having a name like Eternal Death may imply a certain variety of music, and, let's face it, Scandinavia is famed for its metal, but if you're hearing this duo for the first time then you might just be caught by surprise. Sweden is also famed for its classy electro-pop and indie scenes, both genres that Labrador Records have be masters at discovering for many years now. Initially the solo project of singer-songwriter Elin Berlin, Eternal Death now include famed musician and producer Johan Angergård (Acid House Kings, Pallers, Club 8, The Legends... basically a stalwart of the scene) and they released their self-titled debut album earlier this year.

The track 'Cry' was initially released as a single in late 2014, but is being given a deserved push again now with the unveiling of a new video. The footage of brawling ice hockey players and lyrics about keeping tough belie the deliciously sweet vocals of Berlin, and it's all backed by an electronic indiepop tune with a killer pop chorus that should really be troubling the charts; it's commercial without being a sell-out and surely appeals to a wide audience. One can only hope that word spreads about what this pair are doing, because really they deserve much more than getting some love from blog land.
